A lot of Blottiere’s work also demonstrates his sexuality, there is both a mix of androgyny in the imagery and masculinity, the mix definitely is a statement about his own sexuality. In the above image there are definitely mixed up messages of masculinity and femininity, the body is a male, in good condition, large, toned muscles are evident, how ever the model is dressed in female clothes, including bright red heels, how ever in contrast to this the bare legs are hairy. Another way the image confuses gender binaries is through the facial area, which is of a female model.
This shows how montage can change or enhance the meaning in the image, the line between the binaries wouldn’t be as blurred without the switching of the model’s face.
